Wonder View Tower Design CharrettE
Standing on the plains of Eastern Colorado, the Wonder View Tower beckons weary travelers and the curious.
A tourist trap from yesteryear, the tower is now owned by a non-profit that is restoring the tower to its former glory and as a restored roadside attraction and creative hub.
And that’s where Immersive Denver Comes in.
Partnering with Friends of the Genoa Tower, Inc., the 501(c)(3) non profit charitable organization that oversees the Tower, we are hosting a one-day design and social gathering focused on the question:
How can immersive art and design bring energy, ideas and interest to this fascinating piece of Colorado history?

What is a Charrette?
A charrette is an intense design activity meant to quickly create ideas and solutions, but not implement them.
The Wonder View Tower Charrette invites the Immersive Denver community to plan, play and envision works of immersive art and entertainment that work in and around the Tower and neighboring community. What does it mean to activate a road side attraction? How can immersive work remain site sensitive to the local community of Genoa and Limon? How can immersive become a cultural attractor, bringing attention to the Colorado plains? And how much fun can we have making art in this Colorado Historical Registered site?
Where is the Wonder View Tower?
The Tower is located 90 minutes Southwest of Denver on I-25 in the community of Genoa, about 10 minutes outside of Limon. The charrette will take place at the Tower, with additional activities available in Genoa and Limon.
Why An Event On the Eastern Plains?
Great question, and we have a great answer. First off, Immersive Denver is interested in challenging producers, creators, directors, and makers to push the boundaries of what immersive can be. Ready to dig in on Immersive 2.0? Looking to play a little with what the form can do?
That’s where the tower comes in. Until you see this place, it’s hard to imagine just how amazing and unbelievably strange it is. Roadside attractions were our grandparents’ immersive. Bringing life back to the Wonder View Tower is a chance for the immersive community to help bring attention and energy to an iconic piece of Colorado history.
And what’s the deal with camping? Once you see the site, you’ll want to hang out. Sweeping plains, big skies, and a nearby wind farm all work together to provide a unique place to hang out, relax, and celebrate some artistic community.
Whether you come for the networking, the artistic visioning, or just as a break from the normal, we guarantee this will be one meetup you won’t wanna miss!
